Welcome to the first edition of the Club Roomer Newsletter. The overall plan of Club Roomer, a charitable organization, is to fund, sponsor, organize and host a variety of activities to benefit residents of Bonaire who may be in need of financial help and friendship. We intend to schedule a variety of charitable events with funds raised through Club membership fees and donations. Club activities and events will benefit many different segments of Bonaire,s population including the elderly, disabled, children, single parents, etc. At least four major events will be scheduled each year as agreed upon by Club members to help finance our charitable activities and just for fun. All planned events and activities will take place at the Roomer Bed & Breakfast facility unless a different site is specified.
In order to achieve our goals members will subscribe by paying dues and providing services to the beneficiaries of each scheduled event. Meetings and social get-togethers will occur monthly for planning, organizing and preparing for scheduled events as well as member socializing.
Charitable events and the recipients of fund-raising activities will be selected and voted upon by members at our monthly meetings. We ask that you please forward any and all ideas for these activities to our website. A variety of suggestions are presented elsewhere in this first membership letter along with membership types, costs, donation opportunities, etc. Contact info at info@clubroomerbonaire.org
We will, of course, be happy to accept your ideas, articles, photos, stories etc. for the newsletter and will keep all members up to date on the amount of money the Club is raising for the benefit of our Bonairean charities. Also please contact any of us if and when you wish to join us! Information can be made available and/or printed in Dutch, English or Papiamentu. (Spanish, if and when we are able to provide a Spanish translator).
Soon we will provide a membership roster. We hope that our club will grow and prosper and that many more members in 2010 will feel the real joy of giving to our Island Community and to each other. Be sure to ask any one of the members who participated about our 2009 Senior Citizens Christmas Party. For me, the smiles on those forty faces during the party were worth more than any Christmas gift I ever received. Please join us as we work to make Bonaire a happier Island while enriching the lives of residents and our member and get ready to SMILE. Judi Schmidt
