Club Roomer Bonaire benefit residents of Bonaire who may be in need of financial help and friendship

Dear donors
Thanks to your donation, our Christmas Charity was a great succes: 88 bags full of usefull groceries were supplied to some of the less fortunate elderly of Bonaire. You can see what was in the bags; enough to have several nice dinners with or without the grandchildren.
The names and adresses were supplied by the local governmental social service. We all know that the Bonaire economics are slow, but by bringing the bags ourselves to the poorest communities in Bonaire...
Hartwarming, but also hartbreaking!
Two examples:
An elderly man, dialysispatient and hardly able to walk, invited us to come in and have a look in his fridge... we only saw some waterbottles.
He told us he received 80 dollars every 2 weeks and did not know how he could buy food anymore.
Somewhere else, we stopped to check the map. An elderly lady stood in the doorway, watching and waiting, watching and waiting. Although she was not on the list, we decided to give her a bag. She told us she stood there already for 3 days waiting for the church/mission to bring her a
Christmasbag. No one had informed her most of them had stopped doing this. So... no food in her house!
88 Christmas groceriebags, 88 stories. But still many more elderly and families without any food for Christmas.
Next year we hope you want to donate again, so maybe we can double the amount of bags.
